The association FAIR-DI e.V. was founded to foster a worldwide data infrastructure for big data from materials science, engineering, and astronomy following the FAIR principles.

The founding members of FAIR-DI e.V. are from Germany and the Netherlands. Currently, the association consists of 14 member institutes from different European countries.
