Software Engineer and/or Software-Development Engineer at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Berlin

The Theory Department of the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society is looking for a Software Engineer or Software-Development Engineer.

You will work on improving and extending the software and infrastructure for data transformation and analytics of the Novel Materials Discovery Center of Excellence (NOMAD
CoE), a European collaborative project in partnership with 4 supercomputing centers and 7 other leading scientific institutions.

You will develop software in Scala, Javascript and Python and will use a wide spectrum of technologies like RabbitMQ, Flink, NodeJS, EmberJS, Kubernetes, Docker and relational databases.

Knowledge and experience in the following is a strong plus:

  • Programming in Scala
  • Working with relational databases
  • Developing web applications in Javascript (NodeJS, EmberJS)
  • Container management and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge and experience in ElasticSearch, Spark or Flink
