The NOMAD Advanced Graphics team has developed two Samsung GearVR viewers for materials science:

  • Specific viewer for adsorption of carbon dioxide on calcium oxide (CO2@CaO)
  • General viewer for Encyclopedia, Archive and user-provided datasets (see here for download links)

Stereoscopic, 360° panoramic videos for outreach have also been developed from some of the post-processed datasets, in case you do not have access to a GearVR.

General Viewer

The general viewer can be used to display crystal structures, molecular dynamics (from xyz), electron density, and Fermi surfaces. Contact us if you are interested in this visualization. 

Controls:

-Swipe forward or backwards to start moving in the gaze direction and to stop

-Swipe up or down to go to the next (respectively previous) timestep

-Press back to cycle through the isosurfaces

The software is distributed as two apps which are used together: NOMADGearVR (main app) and NOMAD GearVR (VR component).

The VR component is distributed in the Oculus Store as "keys only".
